Leaders Advance

WOW!  What an amazing time we have had with Danny, Sheri and Kris from Bethel.  It was truly a feast for all of us who attended.  We were so blessed to have delegates from all over the UK as well Germany, France, Denmark, South Africa and I am sure other nations!  About 400 people came and were blown away by the presence of God and the ministry from the guys from Bethel.  Ruth and I were so blessed as well to have had our daughter Faith and her husband, Ben there from Cambridge and also our youngest son, Michael as part of the worship team as well.

Tomorrow, Ruth and I go off the USA to visit Dan and Fi Reynolds in Chicago, then onto San Diego with Mark & Pat McElwee and Phoenix with Jonny & Kathy Gunn.  Plus we get to see our son, Sam, his wife, Anna and our grandson Wesley.  We can’t wait!  They will be up in Chicago for the weekend.  So the order of the day will be lots of hugs and kisses.

Trained and Skilled

As I mentioned last week, I was going to unfold some of 1 Chronicles 25 which is the chapter that inspired me to use the title Trained and Skilled for my site.

That phrase is a great starting point for us, as it will guide us into our involvement with worship teams.  To be trained is different from being skilled!  And what God is after – is both.  Trained and Skilled!  Each person should be being trained and mentored by another and then when the training is taking place, the whole process of skilfulness can  be embarked upon.

No-one wants a keyboard player, drummer, guitarist or singer just to show up and expect to involve without any training.  Talk about a cacophony.  The dictionary describes a cacophony as a harsh, discordant mixture of sounds!  Not a blessing!

I remember when I was receiving lessons on the piano, many moons ago!  The aim of every week was gradual improvement that ultimately led towards and exam.  I shudder to think of some of our worship team members taking music exams!!!  So, what each of us need is to be trained by someone who can see the cracks and strengthen and rebuild the wall, not just plaster over the problem.  There are many teachers, mentors who can help us, out there.

If we devote ourselves to this training, we will in time become much more useful as members of the worship team.  Of course, practice is a key part of this, and if you are not committed to this process, unfortunately, you are unlikely to make it.  In the church here we encourage each member to take away what we learn and implement it into a routine of practice.  Spend at least 5 minutes, and possibly 30 minutes or more to practise.  Devotion to this process will reap the benefits in time, and  others will hear it too.

Worship Connexion

What a tremendous day we have had here in Leicester at the Worship Connexion day.  Thank you to all of you who came.  People from East Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, London, Cambridge, Loughborough, Nottingham, Leighton Buzzard and Leicester attended.  God ministered to us all as we pressed further into him.  Allowing the atmosphere of Heaven to infiltrate our lives.

Thank you daddy.  We love you.

July 1st 2011

You can’t release the atmosphere of heaven if the atmosphere of heaven hasn’t released you!

Father, release the atmosphere of heaven over us as we come into your presence.

Trained and Skilled

Trained and Skilled is a phrase right out out of 1 Chronicles 25.   It is talking about those who were singers and musicians in the temple, and all of them were trained and skilled. Our worship teams need training and they should also be skilled.  These two differing elements are often overlooked in worship teams, and it is my belief that we should restore what God intends.

I will be writing more on this in the coming days.

My first blog

Hi everyone

I have been encouraged to begin a blog to keep my friends up to date on what we are doing. Last weekend Ruth and I were in Southend with our good friends Mark and Anita Churchward and the church.  We had a tremendous time pressing deeper into God’s presence and calling out the gold in people.

On Saturday we are hosting a day for worship leaders and worshippers at All Nations Centre in Leicester.  You are very welcome to come and join us as we press deeper into our Father’s love for us.  We begin at 10:00 and aim to finish at 4:00.
